Thanks Dan for all your work

The Club has to announce that its Development Team Assistant Manager, Dan Whitfield is to stand down from his duties due to work commitments.

He advised the Club that with him starting a new job in Wrexham he will have to work shifts which include weekend work and so he cannot commit to the team as he has done over the last three years.

The Club is deeply indebted to Dan for all his work within the Development Team. He took on the reins as manager some three years ago when the Club was struggling to find a new manager. He enlisted Aled Douglas to help him in as joint manager and under their leadership the Development Team flourished as its aim was to provide a stepping stone for youngsters leaving Junior Football and entering the world of Senior Football.

Over each of the three years Dan has been involved with the team they have improved year on year by gaining more points each season. In the last season 2020-2021, with Dan as Assistant Manager the team achieved record points despite the season being curtailed due to Covid Restrictions. To achieve this with the average age of the team being 17 is quite outstanding and Dan is worthy of recognition for his time involved with the team.

Dan went in to say about leaving “I want to take this opportunity to thank you everyone for their help over the last three years I’ve been with the Development and I want to say I’ve really enjoyed it. We achieved some great things with several players going on to play for the first team after starting out with us.
I’m really keen to stay involved with Denbigh Town Football Club as it something that I get a lot of pride out of by being part of an organisation which does so much for the community. I’ll be at as many games as I can and aim to help the Club in a volunteer role”.

Going forward to the forthcoming season the Development Team will be managed by Craig Morris with Kevin Roberts as Coach

In the meantime, the Club wish Dan all the best in his new job and would like to thank him for all his dedication and devotion with the Development Team.

Cheers Dan
