It may not have seen any footballing action for over 12 months but Central Park has become a hive of activity over the past few weeks as work begins to replace the current drainage and install a sprinkler system serviced by our very own bore hole.

Regular visitors and followers of the club will be aware of the challenges the ageing drainage system has proved over the winter months for a number of years with matches being called off at short notice, or taking weeks to recover during periods of very wet weather.

Supported by the generosity of Lock Stock Storage, the club have been successful with funding bids to the Clocaenog Wind Farm Community Fund, Denbighshire County Council Community Fund and Sport Wales.

Shon Powell, Chairman who has been instrumental in sourcing the various funding streams said "we are extremely grateful to all funding partners, whose various grants have enabled us to commence this work and provide a first class footballing facility worthy of a Premier Cymru Club. There haven't been many benefits of this awful pandemic, but the recent lockdown and an early termination to tier 3 football has given the club a window of opportunity to undertake this work which we plan to have finished very early into the 2021-22 season and look forward to welcoming our first opponents back to Central Park, whoever they may well be".

The work is being carried out by 360 Groundcare, Shelton Drainage and Dragon Drilling.

With this week's announcement that the Ardal Northern league will commence its 2021-22 season on 31 July 2021 the clock is ticking to get the playing field ready as soon as is practically possible after this date.
