Form

Denbigh come into this one on the back of their worst form of the season having lost three on the spin and four of their last five matches. Saturday saw Town travel to Newtown to take on Guilsfield where four goals went unanswered before Dion Gibbins’ late consolation. It followed on from just Denbigh’s second home loss in the league last Tuesday at home to Gresford. Dewi Llion’s side will be desperate to end the rut this week.

Bangor 1876 are unbeaten in their last three matches and will be raring to go following an impressive 1-0 home win over Mold Alexandra on Saturday. The Citizens won by the odd goal in a seven-score thriller away at Prestatyn beforehand whilst they shared the spoils with Ruthin Town at the beginning of March. Their last defeat came over a month ago away at title-chasing Flint Town United,

Head-to-Head

Our last meeting with Bangor came at Nantporth back in August, with the home side taking the points in a 2-1 victory. Sam Jones and Jamie Petrie netted for Bangor whilst Craig Pritchard pulled one back in the second half.

We met three times last season with Town taking all three victories, including two at Central Park. One came in the league as Denbigh pipped Bangor to the title with help from a 1-0 win via a Matthew Worrall strike, whilst the other match in Denbighshire ended 3-1 to Denbigh as skipper Paul Fleming scored a sensational hatrick on route to winning the Lock Stock Ardal Northern League Cup.

Stat Pack

Nathan Brown could make his 50th league appearance for Denbigh Town on Thursday night.

Ben Lockley could make his 75th appearance for the club in all competitions.

This will be just the sixth league meeting between the two sides since 1929. We’ve shared seventeen seasons in the previous 131 years, with the first coming in 1893/94 in the old North Wales Coast League, the next two (1909/10, 1910/11) in the Combination League, three further seasons in the Coast League (1913/14, 1919/20, 1920/21) and the majority (1921-29) in the Welsh National League. After 1929 the two wouldn’t meet in the league until Bangor were relegated to the Cymru Alliance in 2018, 89 years later.

Total League Record: Denbigh Town Wins: 10, Bangor Wins: 20, Draws: 3.
