REPORT | Flint Town United Ladies 11-2 Denbigh Town Ladies

Denbigh Town Ladies were left licking their wounds on Sunday as top-of-the-table Flint recorded an emphatic win over challengers Denbigh.

Despite late consolations from Lucy Morris and Lowri Claybrook the hosts proved too strong at the Essity Stadium and extended their lead at the top to eight points and sent Town down to third.

Flint took an early lead netting after 12 minutes via Ruby Hastings and never looked back, dashing out to a 5-0 lead by half-time via Tegan Crockett, Jennifer Haynes, Rosie Hughes and Ruby McGilloway.

The second half saw more of the same from the Silkwomen who took no prisoners, extending the lead via Haynes and Zoe Stopford within nine minutes of the restart.

Hughes bagged her second on 72 minutes whilst Haynes completed her hatrick with nine left to play. Morris had her name on the scoresheet for Denbigh with five minutes to go but the goals didn’t stop there as Kaelyn Williams came off the bench to get a brace to sandwich Claybrook’s strike.

Town are next in action on February 11th, returning to Central Park for the first time since November to take on Northop Hall. It’s a chance to reclaim 2nd spot as third face fourth in Denbigh on Sunday.
