A poor performance throughout the game. Buckley started brightly and were happy to turn the game into a scrap with some strong challenges early doors going unpunished.
The opening goal arrived in strange circumstances on 24 minutes when Buckley fullback Brad Cale lumped an over hit cross into the Denbigh area which Elliot called for, with no Buckley player close the ball hit a divert and bounced straight over him into the net. This settled the home team and they should have increased their lead before half time with Asa Hamilton guilty of missing several half chances.
Whatever was said at half time had an input as within a minute of the half Alan Bull turned his marker and was hauled down for a penalty but no card for the defender. Up stepped Paul Hart to level the scores. 5 minutes later and Abe Dobson was fouled in the box for another penalty this time Hart sent his effort way over. Shortly afterwards Yoann Tsamus had a great effort but it went wide.
It seemed the game had turned as Denbigh got on top but on 72 minutes Buckley got a free kick and from the resulting set play Dan Burgess headed home following poor marking. This opened the game up and Buckley where happy to hit on the break.
At the death Denbigh’s Aled Reece rattled the bar with a header and from the rebound his header went over.
A poor performance throughout and the team will need to raise their game for Wednesday’s local derby.
