An early goal from Lee Healey put the home side ahead as they dominated the first half but failed to take some of the many chances they created whilst at the other end Denbigh didn’t offer much in attack.
A couple of half time changes saw Denbigh alter formation and they competed better and started to get into the game.
Denbigh had a header cleared off the line on 58 minutes, however Holywell still controlled the game.
On 78 minutes Holywell were awarded a penalty when Sam Jones went over in the box. Healey stepped up and fired home.
On 85 minutes Denbigh got a goal back when Corey Scarisbrick fired home.
This set up a nervy finish for the hosts who held out to secure victory.
A couple of half chances went begging late on through Alan Bull but Holywell held on for the 3 points.
