It was an even start with both teams forcing the opposing goalkeepers into great saves. Denbigh’s Craig Pritchard had a fierce shot cleared off the Buckley line before Denbigh broke the deadlock with a Gareth Partridge corner finding Tony Davies’s head and the power of the header flew into the net on 34 minutes. Denbigh deservedly went into the break 1-0 up, although the Buckley forwards were proving a handful and were unlucky not to score on a couple of occasions.
The second half saw Denbigh take control of the game, but they still needed an extra goal to be sure of the win. That goal did not come until the 77th minute and it was a well worked goal with some good passing before Craig Pritchard fired a curling shot away from the outstretched arms of Buckley keeper Adam McGee.
Four minutes later substitute Alan Bull made it 3-0 with another trademark free kick from just outside the penalty box after Billy Holmes had been fouled.
This was an excellent performance from Denbigh in a tough encounter. Manager Eddies Maurice-Jones was pleased with the win and also not to concede any goals after the last result.
We now move forward to our next game, a local derby against our neighbour’s Ruthin on Tuesday 27th December kick off 2.00pm. Come along and support the Town and what should be an enthralling game
