Liam Nash’s Denbigh Town Reserves continued their unbeaten start to the season with the 3-0 dismantling of unbeaten league leaders Chirk.
Goals from Rhys Lloyd, Danny Clarke and debutant Andy Thomas secured the points at Central Park to cement back-to-back wins.
Nash made four changes to the side that beat Holywell 2-1 two weeks ago with captain Josh Griffiths, Aleksander Cyra and Danny Clarke returning to the side and a debut handed to Sam Lewis.
Town began the game in keeping with it’s nature by being in control throughout and had their just rewards on 18 minutes. Matthew Blake worked well in midfield driving forward and playing a looping ball over the top to Lloyd who poked the ball home from close range.
Chances fell to Town through Clarke, Lloyd and Griffiths but Denbigh were unable to take them meaning the sides went into the break with just one goal the advantage and potentially thinking those missed opportunities could be punished.
Half-Time: Denbigh Town Reserves 1-0 Chirk AAA Reserves
Any thoughts of a Chirk comeback were very quickly quashed as Town controlled the game and allowed the visitors very little when it came to sights of goal.
With 12 minutes to play those creeping worries of a visiting break were totally dismantled as Clarke doubled the advantage. A quick goal kick led to Geth Rogers playing a superb diagonal pass to Clarke who one-on-one finished with aplomb.
Into injury time and Town put the icing on the cake as substitute Thomas - making his debut - received the ball from Josh Jones, rounded the keeper, and put the game to bed. It was almost an absolutely incredible debut for Thomas when his shot from 40-yards struck the post.
The Reserves are next in action next weekend as they take on Porthmadog at Y Traeth on Saturday.
