Liam Nash’s Reserves continued their superb unbeaten start to the new campaign with a thrilling 6-4 win at Porthmadog.
Rhys Lloyd (brace), Andy Thomas, Harry Lea, Aleksander Cyra and Owen Herbert scored as Town move up to second in the FAW Reserve League North, with just goal difference separating Denbigh and top of the table Airbus.
The game began at a quick pace with early goals for both sides, as Stuart Rogers struck after just two minutes for Port. However, less than two minutes later Lea grabbed the leveller.
Deion Hughes regained the lead for the home side with 18 minutes gone and the unbeaten run looked like coming to an end when Porthmadog made it 3-1 via Zac Pike.
It was a frustrating period for Town who looked sloppy at times and felt like the architects of their own downfall, but they ended the half with a much-improved spell. In the final five minutes of the first-half Andy Thomas dispatched a penalty before Lloyd struck twice in stoppage time to turn the match on it’s head.
Half-Time: Porthmadog 3-4 Denbigh Town
With seven goals in the first 45 minutes the game was still all to play for, and within eight minutes of the second period Town widened the gap. Aleksander Cyra the next man to get his name on the scoresheet before picking up a yellow card moments later.
On 66 minutes Port pulled one back via Iwan Havelock but as they continued to chase the game Owen Herbert sealed the win to send Town up to second with only goal difference to separate them from Airbus, who they face next Saturday.
