Denbigh Town’s unbeaten start to the FAW Reserve League North came to an end on Friday evening with a 2-0 loss at Airbus.
Goals from Harry Henderson and Bradley Knight in the second half saw off a spirited Town in an even affair.
The first half began with both sides of equal measure yet neither could find a way to break eachother down. It took 16 minutes for the first real sight of goal when Rhys Lloyd snapped at a half volley that went whiskers wide.
New goalkeeper Jac Jones didn’t have much to do in the opening half and after 40 minutes had just a tame effort from Robbie Jones to deal with following a quick break from the home side.
It was of no surprise that both sides went into the break with no score as the game, at times scrappy, lacked a cutting edge.

Three minutes into the second half Danny Clarke had a chance to put Denbigh ahead, as Town broke down the left before Clarke’s effort couldn’t find the target.
Perhaps Denbigh’s best chance came just after the hour mark when some wonderful progress down the right saw the ball find Josh Griffiths on the penalty spot, but he fired wide.
A minute later they were made to pay when Henderson down the right crossed, but the ball was caught in the swirling wind and wrongfooted Jones in goal to put Airbus ahead.
With twelve minutes to play they doubled the advantage when Knight fired home from the left.
Things went from bad to worse when manager Liam Nash was sent off for entering the field of play following some time-wasting from the home side.
Town continued to look for a way back and James Thomas’ delivery from the left met Clarke’s head but the ball flew just wide. Town were down to 10-men on the pitch when Matthew Blake lashed out with a minute to play to pile on the misery.
The match ended with Denbigh failing to find the net and Airbus took the points, sending them top of the pile for 24 hours at least whilst Town’s unbeaten run came to a halt in Flintshire.
The Reserves are next in action at home to Llandudno U23s on Tuesday, October 24th, kicking off at 19:30.
