Denbigh Town Reserves leapfrogged Llandudno on Sunday with a 2-0 away win, taking Liam Nash’s side from 6th to 4th in the process.
Goals from Kristian Pierce and Andy Thomas secured a vital three points and revenge for the loss to the Seasiders at Central Park earlier this season.
Nash made three changes to the side that beat Porthmadog eight days previous as Pierce replaced the suspended Rhys Lloyd, whilst Gruf Rogers and Josh Griffiths returned to the side.
It took Town just six minutes to break the deadlock when Pierce found the back of the net in a quick start for Denbigh after latching on to a defensive error from the home side. Both sides tussled to find the second of the afternoon but neither side could find it and went into the break with a goal between them.
Half-Time: Llandudno U23 0-1 Denbigh Town Reserves
A quick start was important to both sides coming out from the break and within eight minutes of the re-start Town doubled the advantage. Geth Rogers fed the ball to Thomas who finished well in what was a crucial goal.
Llandudno had to throw themselves at it and Denbigh added fresh legs with a quadruple substitution just after the hour mark, but the home side couldn’t break through and Town picked up a big three points in one of their performances of the season.
The win moves Town up to fourth, ten points adrift of top spot but with a game in hand over TNS, four points behind second-placed Connah’s Quay and a point off third-placed Airbus.
Town are next in action on Saturday with a trip to basement side Buckley Town.
