Denbigh Town Reserves exited the FAW Reserve League North Cup at the Quarter-Final stage on Saturday with a narrow loss to Nantlle Vale.
Despite goals from Owen Herbert and Andy Thomas it was the'home' side that advanced on a soaking afternoon in Gwynedd.
Played at Treborth due to Vale's First-Team playing at their traditional home, Liam Nash made a couple of changes to the side. Max Cooke, recently signed from Chester gained valuable minutes as he came into the starting XI, whilst Olly Hansen returned.
In a feisty affair it took 35 minutes for the first goal and it came the way of the visitors. Youngster Cian Dafyfdd was on hand to put Vale in front with his first of the afternoon.
As the 45 ticked over there was plenty of action to be had in stoppage time. Rhys Lloyd slid the ball into Owen Herbert on the right of the box and he lashed the ball home to level the score. However, parity lasted just a minute as Dafydd popped up for his second in a sucker punch before the break.
Half-Time: Nantlle Vale Reserves 2-1 Denbigh Town Reserves
Within nine minutes of the re-start, the hosts doubled their advantage. A ball into the Town box was scrambled into the back of the net by Matthew Davies, giving his side some breathing room.
Town made a couple of changes and within a minute of coming on Andy Thomas appeared to make the difference, as he reduced the deficit with a fine finish.
Town kept pushing for the all-important equaliser to send the game to penalties but Nantlle Vale stood firm to advance to the Semi-Final.
The Reserves are next in action with a trip to Holywell Development on Saturday.
