REPORT | Chirk AAA Reserves 4-1 Denbigh Town Reserves

Denbigh Town Reserves recorded back-to-back defeats on Saturday as Chirk AAA came from behind to take three points at a sodden Holyhead Road.

Andy Thomas’ first half opener was cancelled out by four second half strikes to leave Denbigh ten points adrift of top spot.

The match began well for Denbigh as Owen Herbert swung in a corner for Thomas to poke home in the box and give Town the lead in what was an encouraging start for the visitors.

However, a second-half fightback began when just before the hour mark Ryan Williams stuck his leg out in the box and the referee pointed to the spot, with the resulting penalty converted by Toby Nash.

The score was reversed with sixteen minutes to play as Nash found Brandon Edwards who put Chirk ahead and now Town were chasing the game. Denbigh loaded on the pressure, notably via Thomas’ free-kick being superbly denied whilst skipper Josh Griffiths couldn’t take his chance.

Denbigh continued to push but were caught out in the dying embers, Harvey Edwards doubled the advantage before adding his second and fourth for the hosts in stoppage time.
