- Grant funding success green lights major project

Denbigh Town Football Club are delighted to announce that the club has secured a major grant via the Cymru Football Foundation’s Fit-For-Future Facilities Programme.

The latest grant of £355,680 secures all funding required to proceed with major ground improvements at Central Park which will see the current changing rooms demolished and replaced by a new two-storey facility.

The new building will include four changing rooms for men, women and junior teams plus additional rooms for referees, an education and entertainment area, a bar, an office, storage areas and a kitchen.

Work on the facility began this week with volunteers emptying the previous changing rooms ready for demolition before work begins, with completion aimed for the end of the 2024/25 campaign.

Last year the club announced that Central Park had been selected as one of five venues to host the 2026 UEFA U19 European Championships and the new facility will allow for the continuation of international football in Denbigh whilst also allowing for a number of local community groups to utilise the facility.

Denbigh Town Chairman Shon Powell commented “We’re delighted to have been successful in the application for grant funding from the Cymru Football Foundation.

“It’s the final piece needed for us to move forward and put our plans in to action and deliver a fantastic facility for Denbigh and the wider community.

“We’ve worked hard on the project for two years now so it will be brilliant to see the work finally begin at Central Park.

“This is something that will benefit the Vale of Clwyd in not just sport but a whole host of community engagements that will have the opportunity to utilise the facility”.

The Cymru Football Foundation is delivering the Football Association of Wales’ commitment to deliver inspirational, Fit-For-Future Facilities to enrich communities across the country.
