Some of the region's strongest young teams viz.Holyhead Hotspur, Penrhyn Bay, Llysfaen Juniors, Llanrug United and Denbigh Town Juniors took part in the above tournament last Sunday 5 September .After a long day Denbigh met last season's NWCFA finalist Penrhyn Bay in the final. It was a very close match with both teams defending well and refusing to concede any goals by full time. It was a determined Reds team that eventually broke the deadlock when Gruffudd Roberts nodded in the ' golden goal' in extra time to the obvious delight of his team mates.
Denbigh now face a tough season ahead as the under 13s and under 14s are being amalgumated to one big league of 16 teams. Manager Steve Whitfield said " We know that we will find the new season extremely challenging particulary when we play the older teams but we are determined to give a good account of ourselves. New signings Ynyr Spencer and Lewys Jones were exceptional today and winning this tournament is a real boost. Well done to Llanrug for being such excellent hosts."
Denbigh's first game will a home fixture this Saturday against Abergele Town.
