Well done The Wanderers and very many thanks to Wrexham Legends for this entertaining afternoon which promises to raise hundreds of pounds for Denbigh coach Craig Morris to present to Sam Njie's Bakau football academy in Gambia, West Africa.
Craig had helped with coaching the team whilst on holiday in West Africa and discovered that the team could no longer play due to having their kit and equipment stolen.
Wrexham Legends agreed to help and former Wrexham star winger and captain of legends Karl Connolly brought along players like Steve Watkin, scorer of the historic FA Cup winner against Arsenal, Stephen Thomas, Mark McGregor, Martyn Chalk, Jim Whitley and Dave Walsh along to Central Park.
The match was well attended and spectators saw some quality football from both sides with the Denbigh Town vets just edging it with a scoreline of 2 -1.
Denbigh's goals were scored by Derry Morris who headed in from a Russ Vaughan cross and Dai Clayton who calmly dispatched a penalty after Richie Jones was brought down.
Wrexham's goal was scored by Denbigh lad Marc James who was guesting for Wrexham.
The referee was 'Johnno ' Jones who handled the game firmly but fairly keeping his yellow and red cards deep in his pockets.
Some of the younger members of Denbigh Juniors acted as mascots.
Organiser Craig Morris had a commanding game guesting for Wrexham at centre half and after recovering and catching his breath had this to say "A massive thank you to everyone who attended today. Absolutely fantastic! Massive thanks also to the team who helped out with the bar, cafe, raffle gate and so on, brilliant! Much appreciated "
