The Club were extremely pleased to hear that Gracie Dunkerley has been selected for the Cymru Under 16s Girls Squad in their forthcoming Internationals against Denmark, Switzerland and Finland.
A local Denbigh girl, Gracie moved to live in Ruthin last year. She started her playing career here at Denbigh Girls at the age of 6 and stayed with our Girls until she was 9 years old before moving onto play for Wrexham and then Penrhyn Bay. She now plays her football for the FAW Trust Girls Academy North team which is based at Colliers Park in Wrexham . Gracie has also represented Denbighshire Schools in her age category.
Gracie attended a pre camp session with the squad recently and impressed the selectors and heard on Friday morning that she had made the full squad.
She is predominately known for her skills as a left back and left wing back.
Her mum Zoe said “Gavin, myself and her sister Erin are so proud of Gracie’s achievement and Denbigh Girls is where it all began.”
Gracie is the granddaughter of our Club President, Clwyd Williams.
The first of the tournament games was at lunchtime today when Cymru played Finland with the Finns coming out 3-1 winners. Whilst Gracie was not involved in this game, she hopes to be included in Tuesday’s game at Connahs Quay.
Good luck Gracie from everyone at Denbigh Town FC
