Denbigh Town will play their fifth home game in their last six matches this weekend when Guilsfield come to Central Park.
With plenty of close battles over the past year it’s set to be another thrilling encounter.
Denbigh Town v Guilsfield
Date: 18/01/2025
Kick-Off: 14:00
Location: Central Park
Competition: JD Cymru North
Form
Town come into the game without a win in their last three matches. Dewi Llion’s side last faced Holywell two weeks ago where despite leading 2-0 at the break via Bobby Beaumont and Nathan Brown, the Wellmen fought back to score four unanswered in the second half. It came on the back of a 2-2 draw with Ruthin and 2-1 loss against Buckley. Town’s last win came away at Prestatyn on December 17th whilst their last league win at home came way back in October.
Guilsfield currently sit a place above Denbigh in 9th and will be looking for a response to their 4-0 loss away at Llandudno last weekend. It was the only game that beat the weather but the Guils will have made the long trip home wishing it hadn’t. A respectable 1-1 draw with Buckley kicked off 2025 whilst their last win came on December 28th, winning 4-2 against Penrhyncoch.
Head to Head
Our first meeting of the season ended in huge disappointment for Denbigh who having gone from behind to lead at Clos Mytton saw any hope of points disappear in stoppage time when the home side made things 4-3. It was revenge for the last meeting between the two when 2-1 up against ten men, Guilsfield gave away their lead when Owen Davies netted a leveller deep into stoppage time back in February 2024.
Stat Pack
Sean James, Danny Clarke and Elijah Beattie could make their debuts for Denbigh this weekend.
Nathan Brown needs one more goal in the second tier to become Denbigh’s outright fifth highest goal scorer at this level. It will also take him to 7th in recorded history.
Owen Davies requires one more goal to become outright sixth on the second tier goal scoring chart.
Denbigh are looking to end a four-game winless run at home in the JD Cymru North that stretches back to October 25th (a 6-2 win over Llandudno).
