- Town finally get back on the road

For the first time in seven weeks - and more than 50 days - Denbigh Town will hit the road as Dewi Llion’s side head to Llandudno.

Town have played just once away from home in more than two months and will be looking to make it back to back victories on their travels.

Llandudno v Denbigh Town
Date: 07/02/2025
Kick-Off: 19:45
Location: Maesdu Park
Competition: JD Cymru North

Form

Denbigh will be looking to make it three wins on the trot on Friday following victories at home to Guilsfield and Penrhyncoch. Last time out goals from Nathan Brown, Kyle Cooper and Danny Clarke rounded off a terrific performance at LL16. A week previous Alfie Vaughan struck twice with a Ben Lockley header sandwiched between them in a 3-2 success. Denbigh’s last away trip came on December 17th, in a 2-1 win over Prestatyn Town with goals from Sam Duffy and Brown.

Llandudno have had a real resurgence of late, shooting up to 5th in the JD Cymru North. Their last game came at home to Ruthin Town where the Seasiders blew the visitors away in a 5-2 hammering. It followed on from wins over Llay Welfare on the road and 4-0 dismantling of Guilsfield. Their last loss came back on New Year’s Day at home to Holywell.

Head-to-Head

This will be the second meeting between the two sides this season with the last coming back in October at Central Park. In a pulsating game Town blew Llandudno away with a 6-2 win. Lockley opened the scoring before Harvey Bennett levelled inside 20 minutes. Keelan Williams restored the lead before Brown doubled it just before the break. Levi Montgomery pulled one back but Brown and Williams found the net once more before a brilliant moment for Tom Salisbury saw the 16-year-old grab his first goal.

Our last journey to Maesdu Park came in December 2022 as Matthew Worrall cancelled out Bennett’s opener within just ten minutes. Brown gave Denbigh the lead on 53 before a late strike from Ethan Roberts saw the points shared. Denbigh’s last win away at Llandudno in the league came 26 years ago, as Barry Williams netted a brace alongside a Derry Morris goal in a 3-1 win. The most recent in any competition came in September 2000 with a 3-2 win in the Welsh Cup.

Stat Pack

Iwan Roberts could make his 25th appearance for the club on Friday night.

Nathan Brown requires one more goal in the second tier to become the club’s joint fourth highest scorer at this level. Two more would take him joint-third and three more for third outright. The rankings are Tom Mutton (53), Derry Morris (52), Kristian Pierce (29), Alan Bull (28) and Nathan Brown (27).

The run of home matches (five on the spin) is just the fourth time in recorded history that Denbigh have played five or more at home in a row. The others came between September and November 2002 (seven games), March and April 2004 (six games) and August 1993 (five games).

The 53-day wait for an away fixture is the fourth longest in recorded history:
