Denbigh Town are delighted to announce the loan signing of midfielder Jordan Pownall from Connah’s Quay Nomads.

The 21-year-old signs for the remainder of the 2024/25 campaign having featured 12 times for the Nomads this term, including seven games in the JD Cymru Premier.

“I’m really happy to sign for the club for the rest of the season” said Pownall.

“Denbigh has a track record of developing young players and this felt like the right move to make at the right time.

“Now’s the time to push on after a great start to the season by getting more games under my belt and helping the team in a really tight Cymru North season, I can’t wait”.

Manager Dewi Llion added “I’m very pleased to be able to bring Jordan to the club for the rest of the season.

“He’s a really good young player and someone I’ve been tracking for a while, so to get this over the line is really pleasing.

“I feel we’ve bolstered the squad well this month and Jordan now tops that off for us, we’ve a good track record of developing talent so we hope he will be the latest to progress well with us”.

Pownall began his career in the academy at Llandudno before joining Connah’s Quay Nomads in 2021. He quickly impressed with the U18 side and took a place on the bench for Nomads in the JD Cymru Premier at just 17 in August of that year. He made his senior debut in April 2022 when coming off the bench for Nomads away at Aberystwyth in the top flight.

In February 2023 he made his first loan move joining Ruthin Town for the remainder of the campaign, making nine appearances for the club. He returned to Nomads before making another loan move in January 2024, signing for Gresford Athletic. He totalled 14 appearances for the Colliers.

Upon his return to his parent club, Pownall made his first squad appearance for the Nomads as an unused substitute away at Slovenian side SK Bravo in the UEFA Europa League at the beginning of this season. He went on to feature and grab an assist in a 3-0 away win at Buckley in the Nathaniel MG Cup.

Pownall became further involved with the senior side with frequent selections on the bench before making his first league appearances in a 5-1 win away at Briton Ferry Llansawel in August. He made his first start for Nomads in a victory over Caernarfon in the Nathaniel MG Cup whilst also grabbing an assist. This led to his first start in the JD Cymru Premier in an away trip to Cardiff Met.

In October he grabbed his first senior goal in the Welsh Cup against Guilsfield and has so far amassed 37 appearances across the Cymru Premier and North.
