Denbigh Town are delighted to confirm the signing of Kyle Cooper following a spell with Penmaenmawr Phoenix.
The 20-year old returns to the club after departing due to work commitments in the summer and becomes Dewi Llion’s first January signing.
Cooper initially signed for the club in January 2024 from Llandudno and totalled five appearances before his season was cut short due to injury. He has since moved on due to working away but made a series of appearances for Penmaenmawr upon his return.
In total Cooper featured eight times for Phoenix scoring twice and providing five assists.
“It’s great to be back here and I’m really looking forward to the rest of the season” said Cooper.
“I’ve spent some time with the new lads and been training ready to go from day one in January, I can’t wait to get going”.
“I’m really pleased to have Kyle back with us after some time away” said manager Dewi Llion.
“He’s shown his quality during his short time with us in 2024 and to have the chance to bring him back into the group is one we jumped at.
“He’s trained with us and integrated with the lads who he hasn’t played with and will be available to slot right in from January”.
Cooper began his career with Llandudno as a youngster whilst also having a spell in the academy with Tranmere Rovers. In 2021 at the age of 16 he signed a two-year contract with Sky Bet League Two side Salford City.
With the Ammies he spent two seasons as part of the club’s Under-18s, reaching the Third Round of the FA Youth Cup before bowing out to Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux in 2021.
In April 2023 he joined North West Counties Football League Premeir side Ashton Athletic for the final four games of the campaign. He made his debut as a substitute against Burschough before starting the final three matches against Irlam, Northwich Victoria and Kendal Town.
In the summer of 2023 following the end of his deal at Salford City, Cooper returned to Maesdu Park with Llandudno. He made his debut for the club in the August against Airbus UK Broughton and grabbed his first senior goal in the December, in a victory against Buckley Town.
After totalling 12 appearances and scoring once for Llandudno, Cooper switched to the Vale of Clwyd signing for Denbigh Town before his brief time with Penmaenmawr. He will be eligible to play for the club as of the beginning of the January window.
Welcome back, Coops!
