Denbigh Town are thrilled to announce the signing of Mason Blackwell-Jones from Llandudno for the upcoming 2023/24 JD Cymru North campaign.

The 21-year-old midfielder has signed for Town following his departure from fellow Cymru North side Llandudno.

Blackwell-Jones has, despite his age, an abundance of experience in senior Welsh football having represented the Seasiders 29 times in his only season with Llandudno, scoring twice.

“I’m really pleased to get the deal done and get back to focusing on football” said Blackwell-Jones.

“This is a really exciting time to join the club with so many talented young players and projects on and off the pitch.

“I’ve already played a couple of games with the lads this summer so I’m hoping to settle in quickly ahead of the JD Cymru North campaign”.

Manager Dewi Llion said: “We’re delighted to have Mason join us for the upcoming season, at 21 he’s the right calibre of player at the right age, which fits our recruitment strategy really well.

“He has a lot of experience in the Cymru North and will be a big part of any success we have moving forward”.

Having spent time with academies in the English system with the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City, Wrexham, and Stoke City he began his senior career with Rhyl and made his debut in December 2019 against Llangefni in the JD Cymru North, appearing as a 75th-minute substitute in a 0-0 draw.

He scored his first senior goal in January 2020 in a 2-1 win over Ruthin Town. However, both results from that season were expunged due to the pandemic.

He, alongside future Denbigh players Ben and Harry Lockley, moved on from Belle Vue and signed for Flint Town United in June 2020 to continue to aid his and his teammates' development in the Cymru Premier.

He made his Silkmen debut in September 2020 coming on as a 57th-minute substitute in a 3-1 loss at Aberystwyth Town. Blackwell-Jones tallied five appearances in the Cymru Premier for Flint before moving on to Prestatyn Town the following summer.

At Bastion Gardens he made 19 appearances in all competitions scoring once before departing for Cymru North rivals Conwy Borough in January 2022, making his debut against Prestatyn shortly afterward. In half a season at Y Morfa, he played eight games.

Blackwell-Jones joined Llandudno in the summer of 2022 during what was a difficult season that saw the club displaced from Maesdu Park but still obtain a third-place finish behind Colwyn Bay and Holywell. With the departure of manager Sean Eardly and a number of senior players, he opted to sign for Denbigh Town for the 2023/24 campaign.

Welcome to Central Park, Mason!
