"When Dewi rang me I was already sold and wanted a new challenge"

Denbigh Town are delighted to announce the signing of Ryan Kershaw ahead of the 2023/24 season.

The 27-year-old penned his deal with the club this week and joins us ahead of our JD Cymru North campaign and arrives with Cymru Premier and European pedigree.

Kershaw signs following two years with Cefn Albion in which he made 45 appearances scoring four goals.

"After seeing the success that Denbigh Town had last season it was kind of a no-brainer to want to join them in tier two" said Kershaw.

"When Dewi rang me I was already sold and wanted a new challenge, Dewi and KP [Kristian Pierce] spoke nothing but good things about the team and the ambition they've got over the next couple of years.

"Personally seeing the set-up in and around Denbigh when playing there it was the right place to go for the next challenge and I can't wait to get going".

The midfielder began his career with The New Saints signing professional terms after graduating from the academy in 2014. He made his debut for the Saints a year previous in a 3-0 victory over Afan Lido in the Cymru Premier when introduced as a substitute in the 81st minute, aged just 18.

Kershaw captained TNS' youth side and led his side out at the Liberty Stadium when reaching the FAW Youth Cup Final against Swansea City.

After making three appearances in the top flight in 2013/14 in which TNS won the title, he gained experience with Cefn Druids on loan in 2014 - scoring his first top-flight goal in a 2-1 win over Port Talbot - and again in 2015.

In the summer of 2016, he departed Park Hall and joined Newtown in the Cymru Premier where he made over 40 appearances for the Robins. In August 2016 he made his first start for his new club and scored his first goal in a 4-2 triumph over Carmarthen Town at Latham Park.

Following two years with Newtown he re-joined Cefn Druids on a permanent basis, making his debut in European football when facing FK Trakai in June 2018 in the UEFA Europa League, drawing 1-1 before a narrow 1-0 loss in Lithuania.

In January 2020 Kershaw moved across Rhosymydre and signed for Cefn Albion before returning to Druids later on that year. In the summer of 2021, he re-joined Cefn Albion and remained with the club battling for promotion until departing in the summer of 2023 and joining Denbigh Town.

Welcome to Central Park, Ryan!
