- Defender commits for 2025/26

Denbigh Town Football Club are delighted to announce that Ben Lockley has signed a new contract with the club.

The 23-year old put pen to paper on a new deal that will see him remain at Central Park until at least the end of the 2025/26 campaign.

He becomes the first player to commit to the club for the next 18-months having become an integral part of Dewi Llion’s side.

“I’m really pleased to commit to the club for next season” said Lockley.

“I feel like I’ve improved significantly as a player here over the past three seasons, playing week in week out and growing alongside the club.

“I’ve had some fantastic memories already with Denbigh with a top six finish in the JD Cymru North after a league and cup double the year before, now it’s time to keep up that progression and achieve more”.

Manager Dewi Llion was thrilled to have the commitment of last season’s ‘Manager’s Player of the Season’, praising Lockley’s spell with the club so far.

“Ben is a top player at this level and someone we’re really happy to have signed for next season.

“He came to the club at 20 as a raw talent and has progressed incredibly since then, establishing himself as a leader on the pitch and a consistent performer which he proved last season by not missing a single game in all competitions.

“He’s the first player to announce, and can’t wait to continue working with him”.

Lockley joined the club in the summer of 2022 alongside twin brother Harry from Conwy Borough. He made his debut in the Nathaniel MG Cup against Gresford Athletic before scoring his first goal for the club in October 2022 against Llanrwst United in the JD Welsh Cup.

The defender has made 107 appearances for the club so far, scoring 11 goals, including one in the FAW Amateur Trophy Final, whilst picking up a league winners medal in the Lock Stock Ardal North-West and a cup win in the Lock Stock Ardal Northern League Cup.

In Town’s first season in the JD Cymru North he played in every game of the campaign, winning the Manager’s Player of the Season Award at the end of the 2023/24 season.

So far this season he’s made 29 appearances, scoring twice, whilst also helping Denbigh to their first-ever Welsh Cup Quarter-Final.

Great to have you with us, Ben!
