Denbigh Town began their pre-season schedule in style with a convincing 3-0 victory away to Vale of Clwyd rivals St Asaph City.
A Nathan Brown brace and Tom Weir strike was enough in our first run-out which saw Town rotate 19 players throughout the game.
The game began with limited chances, the first coming the way of Morgan Thomas-Sadler who after Brown's corner was swept in the ball was parried by the keeper, but Thomas-Sadler couldn't find the target from close range.
The game had a true pre-season feel with a scrappy opening exchange as each side looked to establish themselves in the match, and it took until just before the half-hour mark for another clear-cut opportunity. Paul Fleming - coming up against his former side - was fed the ball by fellow former City forward Jake Walker and forced the St Asaph custodian into a wonderful save.
With five minutes to play until the break Denbigh broke the deadlock, Ben Lockley made a superb run down the right flank before crossing for Brown to tap home with ease.
Half-Time: St Asaph City 0-1 Denbigh Town
Manager Dewi Llion made a string of changes at the break which included the addition of Luca Bennett who five minutes into the second period saw his effort flash just wide.
Two minutes later, Fleming found himself with the chance to double the advantage when he picked up the ball in the box but was thwarted by the 'keeper not once but twice.
With Town pressing for their second Brown obliged as he danced through the City defence before hitting a low effort through the body of the goalkeeper.
As the game evolved Denbigh continued to play superb football, with Keiron Roberts playing the ball to Olly Hansen who eventually found Sion Jones in the box, but the versatile Town midfielder's shot was comfortably saved.
Another introduced at half-time was new signing Tom Weir who after showing flashes of quality eventually opened his pre-season account after receiving the ball from Harry Lockley and driving a super low effort into the back of the net.
Three almost became four when Danny Clarke received the ball on the right and hit a powerful drive to the goalkeeper's right, only for the stopper to pull off another remarkable save.
The last chance of the game fell to the home side when a mix-up at the back forced Aaron Jones into making a fantastic save to maintain his clean sheet upon Town's return to the pitch.
Denbigh are next in action at Park Hall on Friday night when they face The New Saints Under-21s.
