- Town back to winning ways with resounding victory

Denbigh Town hit Llandudno for a quartet of strikes at Central Park as Dewi Llion’s side picked up a big three points.

Goals from Paul Fleming, Nathan Brown (brace) and Matthew Worrall secured maximum points despite the visitors taking the lead with less than two minutes played.

It takes Town four points clear of Bangor in 6th and continues the pressure on the top four in the JD Cymru North, as Denbigh secured their tenth win of the campaign.

Dewi Llion named two changes to the starting XI as Ryan Kershaw returned from suspension and Matthew Worrall came into the side. Meanwhile there was a place on the bench for new signings Toby Jones and Owen Davies.

The game kicked off and the visitors blasted out of the gates. A free-kick from the left channel found debutant Stevan Stanic-Floody who’s bullet header found the top left corner of Aaron Jones’ goal.

A goal down early on, Town composed themselves and began to take control of the contest. Josh Lock made a great run forward before being brought down on the edge of the box, before Brown’s free-kick deflected off the wall and into the arms of the goalkeeper.

Craig Pritchard on the ten minute mark had a chance of his own, twisting and turning before his effort was safely gathered. Despite Denbigh’s momentum Llandudno had a massive chance to double the lead on 14 minutes. A cross from the right found Fabrizio Murtas who’s shot cannoned off the post.

On 22 minutes Town thought they’d levelled when Worrall fed Brown on the left of the box, he brushed the ball under the keeper and into the back of the net, but the flag was, to the relief of Llandudno and confusion of Denbigh, raised by the linesman. Less than a minute later, the flag stayed down.

Billy Holmes, incredible throughout the evening, skipped down the left before crossing low, skipper Fleming was first to it and smashed the ball into the top right corner to bring the score level.

Ten minutes later, Town turned the game on it’s head. Brown stepped up for a corner, and crossed right into a crowd of bodies with Worrall and Ben Lockley lurking, but the ball missed everyone, landing in the back of the net.

Now Town could smell blood, Worrall was dispatched over the top before dragging an effort wide, before the forward cut inside one-on-one with Llandudno defender Ross Weaver, who denied a third with a smart block.

As the game ticked over to stoppage time, Denbigh found a buffer as a looping ball from Kershaw found a defender, but Brown made a sensational tackle and rushed through on goal to blast past the visiting custodian.

Half-Time: Denbigh Town 3-1 Llandudno

More of the same was key for Denbigh as they came out for the second half, and forward Worrall duly obliged. He was played through just right of centre before sweeping the ball under the keeper and into the back of the net for a nightmare start for the visitors.

Brown was having a fine game for Town and almost took home the matchball on 56 minutes as Pritchard’s cross was half cleared as far as the forward, who struck the bar with his effort.

With just shy of an hour gone Pritchard looked to get on the scoresheet but his shot ballooned over. The game began to fizzle out but Town injected some excitement with debuts for Davies and Toby Jones.

Both sides appeared to settle for the result in the closing stages, though Llandudno did have a golden chance to find a second but an attacker somehow missed an open goal from close range in the dying embers.

Town now move on to face Llanidloes Town away from home next Saturday in the JD Cymru North.
