Denbigh Town secured a dramatic 4-3 victory over Llanuwchllyn on Saturday afternoon, coming out on top in a seven-goal thriller at Village Hall to claim three valuable Novira Cymru North points.
Town made the trip to Llanuwchllyn looking to build on their previous league victory at Guilsfield, and got off to the perfect start with an opening goal inside ten minutes.
Town broke the deadlock in the ninth minute, as Alfie Vaughan won his header in midfield before Toby Gallagher-Keenan picked it up and slotted through Ffranc Vaughan-Evans to finish one on one via the left post.
However, the advantage was short-lived as the hosts responded just six minutes later to bring themselves level. Dan Flanders' back pass was intercepted by the experienced James Davies who was able to latch on before rounding Oli Farebrother to nudge level.
Denbigh looked to respond well and had a sighter moments later when a neat move led to Harry Martin having a pop from 25-yards, only for his effort to glide over the bar.
36 minutes in and identical chances at both ends led each side to question how they weren't ahead. Sion Jones' cross from the right found Elliott Orton at the back post who just needed to guide his header on target, but somehow put it wide. Seconds later a Llanuwchllyn cross found Davies in the same position with the same outcome.
Half-Time: Llanuwchllyn 1-1 Denbigh Town
With neither side able to seperate themselves in the first half, Town wasted little time in restoring their advantage after the restart, striking just four minutes into the second half to move 2-1 ahead. Luke Johnston looked dangerous on the edge of the box before he was hacked down, and Tom Kelly stepped up to stick the ball into the top left corner for his 7th of the campaign.
Much like the first half Town were almost pegged back quickly as Daniel Holland was unleashed right of centre but his effort was brilliantly blocked by Flanders to deny and concede just a corner.
Just after the hour mark Town finally had some breathing room, as a great move led to a two-goal advantage. They same games often come down to moments, and a minute after Farebrother made a superb stop to deny an onrushing Davies, Town found the net.
Orton won the ball in his own half before driving forward and finding Vaughan who touched it on to Kelly via Martin. Kelly stepped inside and swept the ball into the bottom right corner to send joy through those behind the goal that had travelled from LL16.
As with the nature of the contest though, Llanuwchllyn once again pulled one back. A high ball looked to be gathered by Farebrother but with an attacker under him in the air the ball came loose and was eventually bundled in by Ilan ap Gareth Jones.
With just a goal to seperate them in a tight and edgy affair, those moments can often be decided with a player not on the field. With 14 to play Sion Jones' challenge on Dale Davies on halfway was deemed a straight red car, and now Denbigh were going to be under it.
However, despite being a man down Town rallied, and on 86 minutes Vaughan's outstanding crossfield ball found Nathan Brown, he hesitated for substitute Fin Starkey-Jones to overlap and smash in Town's fourth of the afternoon and his first for the club.
There was still time for things to get nervy, when a long ball forward was flicked on by Gwydion Roberts for Gwydion Ifan to lob Farebrother in the fourth minute of stoppage time. Sadly for the home side, there wasn't enough time to grab a leveller as Town made it back to back wins in the Cymru North, both of which came on the road.
Town will next be in action at home to Mold Alexandra on Friday night.
