Denbigh Town Reserves were well beaten on Saturday afternoon as title-chasing TNS put Liam Nash’s side to the sword.
A young squad that included eight players under the age of 18 and five junior graduates, Denbigh put up a fight but in the end were second best to the full-time side.
16-year old Goalkeeper Rory Wynne made his debut whilst junior graduates Rhodri Edwards, Harri Redgrave and Sam Hughes were named on the bench.
It didn’t take long for the Saints to rush into the lead as goals from Joel Gardner gave the hosts the lead on six minutes before Jake Morris, Ben Richards and Oliver Blaney made it 4-0 after just 15 minutes.
Park Hall was always going to be a tough place to go and just before the half hour mark Gardner made it five. However, never giving up, Town pulled one back via Rhys Lloyd who linked up well with Owen Herbert as they have done all season.
Half-Time: TNS Reserves 5-1 Denbigh Town Reserves
After the break it proved to be more of the same as Josh Davies-Sewell added to the scoreline before Denbigh were awarded a penalty. Lloyd again stepped up to net a brace.
Leighton Brewer was introduced in the second half and was quickly in on the act bagging two goals in the space of a minute before Richards added another moments later.
Brewer continued his scoring by snatching his hatrick, a third goal for him in the space of just five minutes followed by a strike from another substitute in James Nuttall.
Davies-Sewell with three minutes left rounded off the scoring on a difficult afternoon, but Denbigh can be proud for pushing through for 90 minutes and handing debuts to four 16-year-old local players.
