- Looking back at a mixed month

Denbigh Town Reserves had a busy October with three matches in the FAW Reserve League North as Liam Nash’s side chase top spot.

Here we look back at how they faired before their November fixtures kick off this weekend.

Form

Town played three matches in October with mixed results.

They began with a long trip to Porthmadog in the league in what ended up as a 10-goal thriller at Y Traeth. After going a goal down after less than two minutes Harry Lea levelled on just four minutes. Port however, raced into a 3-1 lead after just half an hour. The last five minutes of the half were electric, as Andy Thomas scored on 41 minutes from the spot before Rhys Lloyd added goals in stoppage time to somehow go into the break with the lead. Second-half strikes from Aleksander Cyra and Owen Herbert sandwiched a home strike to finish in a 4-6 win in West Wales.

Fortunes changed later in the month however as Denbigh recorded their first and second losses of the campaign. First of all a trip to Airbus ended in a 2-0 loss before Llandudno recorded a 2-3 success at Central Park, despite goals from James Thomas and Lloyd.

Squad Changes

Goalkeeper Jac Jones arrived in October and made his debut for the Reserves in the defeat at Airbus. The Town custodian spent time away from the game with his last club being Henllan and has made two appearances for Denbigh so far.

The Gaffer

Manager Liam Nash had mixed emotions when it came to October with a win and two defeats in the FAW Reserve League North.

“After a good start in October with the win at Porthmadog it was disappointing to follow it up with two losses against Airbus and Llandudno.

“With that being said, it’s a test of character now to see if we can bounce back properly against Buckley to kick off November and get back to the form we saw at the beginning of the season.

“We’re only a couple of good results away from being back up near those top spots in the table and that should be all the motivation we need to secure a good result.

“Buckley have had a difficult start to the season and will be desperate to get points on the board, so we need to be aware of that and focus fully on the task at hand”.

Looking Forward

Town are next in action on Saturday, November 11th against Buckley Town, kicking off at 14:00. That’s followed by a Vale of Clwyd derby with Ruthin Town on Saturday, November 18th, kick off at 14:00.
